I received my Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi in 2010. After working for 2 years in the IT industry, I decided to pursue higher education and joined Technische Universität München, Germany for Masters in Informatics in 2012. During my Masters program, I got interested in machine learning and computational biology. I did a project called ISIS2 with Prof. Burkhard Rost and Tobias Hamp. The project involved prediction of interaction sites in proteins using only sequences. Later, I worked in a deep learning project aimed at tackling a very complex and to date unsolved problem in medical diagnosis: automated recognition of heart condition based on ultrasound data under the supervision of Prof. Patrick van der Smagt. I moved to University of Pennsylvania in 2014 as a PhD student and joined Biociphers lab to continue pursuing my interest in machine learning and computational biology.
